Oak Business Partners

Our Story So Far

Oak Business Partners is a vibrant and dynamic firm servicing clients from the local area of Tweed Heads to Coolangatta and the Gold Coast as well as the Sydney Metropolitan Area.

Our roots run deep within the Tweed Heads community, our origins stretching back somewhat 40 years when the practice was operated by W R (Ray) Murray as a Sole Practitioner who serviced the area for well over a decade before being acquired by Peter O’Toole & John Moloney in 1988 forming O’Toole & Moloney Accountants.

The Practice continues to operate from the very same building since it was built in 1978, albeit receiving a facelift in 2016 when it was acquired by Artur (Art) Semerda.

Sydney Bred Principal
With over 15 years’ experience and having worked for a variety of top firms across Sydney before eventually becoming a partner of a Northern Suburbs firm, Art decided to relocate to the beautiful suburb of Burleigh Heads where he managed a multi-regional practice. Eventually the decision was made to acquire the O’Toole & Moloney Practice from John Moloney who decided it was time to retire and Oak Business Partners was born.

Define your goals, explore the possibilities, implement your action plan, assess, review and update as appropriate.

Step 1

Initial Meeting

We say ‘hello’, shake your hand and welcome you to our friendly practice. This is our opportunity to get to know you, who you are and what makes you tick. We determine your main goals, ambitions, current challenges, needs and, most importantly, your priorities. We’ll also discuss the things that might be ‘nice to have’ or are less of a priority right now but still are on the horizon and provide something to aim for.

Step 2

Transition & Discovery

We get in touch with your current accountant to ensure a smooth transfer of information so we have all the relevant and important data. Our team will ensure that we have everything we need to take care of you and your tax needs going forward and into the future.

Step 3

Engagement & Confirmation

We formalise our relationship by confirming the work you want us to undertake (Engagement Letter), agree on costing (Cost Agreement) so that there are no surprises down the track. Then we advise you of the time-frame we require to complete your work.

Step 4

Review & Identity

We review your current situation using the information that has been provided by you and your previous accountant. We identify areas of importance and formulate any solutions and recommendations we can make. Often this step may also involve a visit to your business to gain a better understanding of your operation.

Step 5


We touch base with you to discuss any recommendations we may have, based on our extensive experience. We’ll bounce ideas off the network of professionals we work with on an ongoing basis, if required. Then we combine this with the goals and needs you have communicated to us to ensure we are all on the same page. We’ll then walk you through the process or ‘what it might all look like’ to arrive at your desired outcome in the required timeframe.

Step 6


When everyone is happy and on the same page with the direction and strategy, we ‘just do it’. We will roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty so that you don’t have to. And, we’ll guide you through any and all compliance/administration hurdles so that you can do what you do best, operate your business, enjoy life and sleep well.

We stay in touch as this is vital since life isn’t static and, even with a plan, priorities change and unexpected things happen, both good and bad. We ensure that anything which might impact on your overall strategy and results is considered and that the plan we have agreed on is still relevant and appropriate for you and your family.
